Opening Doors to Opportunity: Preparing Underprivileged Girls for a Future of Possibility

In communities across Thailand, many girls dream of a brighter future—but lack the guidance, resources, and support to make those dreams a reality.

With the generous support of the Girls Opportunity Alliance, Pratthanadee Foundation launched the Preparing for Success workshop to help close this gap. Delivered across 10 schools, the project reached 1,506 underprivileged girls, empowering them with the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to take charge of their education and shape their own futures.

Why This Program Matters

Before joining the workshop, nearly 97% of participants had never taken part in a similar activity. Many had aspirations for their future, but almost 70% lacked clarity on the academic or vocational steps needed to reach their career goals—a clear indicator of the gap in access to guidance and information.

The challenges didn’t stop there:

• 67% faced financial barriers that could prevent them from continuing their education.
• 42% were unsure what to do if they couldn’t afford to stay in school.

These numbers don’t reflect a lack of ambition—they reflect a lack of access to early career guidance, financial literacy, and practical planning tools that every young person deserves.

Transformative Results

Through interactive activities and reflection exercises, the girls gained clarity and confidence.

📈 Pre- and post-test scores jumped from 82% to 98%, demonstrating a strong increase in knowledge.

💡 After the workshop:

• 94% became more aware of education and career options.
• 92% developed greater self-awareness, including their strengths and values.
• 87% felt more confident planning their future paths.

But the impact went far beyond academics. Girls also shared that they:
💬 Felt more motivated and less anxious about the future
💬 Built supportive relationships with peers
💬 Discovered new dreams and possibilities they hadn’t considered before

"I felt like I truly had the chance to reflect on myself. I was able to write down my dreams and learn about the possible paths I can take moving forward. Even though I used to be unsure, now I feel more confident. This was a great and meaningful activity. Please continue supporting this kind of program.”

“Today was so much fun! I learned so many things and felt genuinely happy. All the staff were so kind and gave helpful advice. I really wish we could have activities like this more often. I had fun working with new friends, even those who are usually quiet. The whole day was full of joy. Thank you for giving us knowledge and support!”
